L-cysteine is an ingredient often found in processed bread products made from down feathers or human hair from China.  When I said there is a hair in my bread, I mean that literally.  This is used because it’s used as a dough conditioner to extend the shelf life of bread and other baked processed good.  It’s even sold as supplement to increase hair growth. It was banned in the United Kingdom and allowed in the United States. The US seems to the take everything that the Europe rejects.

Who’s bright idea was it to do this in the first place?
