Vanilla part two. Fake Vanilla called Vanillin comes from Paper mills.

Vanillin is not vanilla, it’s residue from paper mills. Massachusetts Institute of Technology  made vanillin from a biopolymer of  pulp. 60% of vanilla comes from the lignin in paper which smells like vanilla.  The problem is that this fake vanilla can cause behavioral problems in children, and the Feingold diet explicitly avoids it, and the Environmental Working group offers a skin irritation or allergy as well.   Share...

There’s something gross in your vanilla flavoring.

So who decided that Anal Beaver glands in your ice cream was a good idea? Yes I mean it. Natural flavoring can really be something called Castoreum or Anal Beaver glands. This is a picture of what looks like. Delicious, right? If you  read the ingredients, would you eat something that contained Beaver Butt? No it’s called Natural flavoring instead. I’ll be doing a series on gross stuff in your food. This in my view tops the list.   Share...

A beer belly is a wheat belly.

Wheat Belly: Wheat is as addictive as crack. Trust me, I know this from personal experience. One taste or even a nibble, I think about eating that cookie once again. I smell it everywhere and even want to go to the wheat aisle (bakery section) and just smell it. Dr Wiliam Davis, author of The Wheat Belly, knows about this  addiction and he talks about it on CBS This Morning. What people term as a beer belly, is really a wheat belly. Lose the weight by losing the wheat.   That’s a gluten free diet.  I mention this to do with autism because if you have kids who eat nothing but mac and cheese or pizza or steal food from other kids, or who can smell your dinner a mile a way, these kids are addicted. In autism, the undigested food goes right to the brain called glutomorphine. Autism doctors describe it like a morphine addiction.   Does your child look glassy eyed? Does he steal food? Does he eat nothing but wheat and milk? Some of what we consider as autism behaviors are really addictive behaviors. You want to know what that’s like. Try giving up wheat for a few weeks and then think about what you would you do if you can’t speak? When people first begin these diets, the wheat is the hardest thing to give up. And like alcohol, you can experience a “gluten hangover”. You have  such a bad stomach ache, like being punched in the gut the next day or in the week after. So if you really want to eat it, plan...

How to Stay Naturally Calm when school is starting. Magnesium!

When school starts, kids are naturally anxious about which classes to take, where to go and what to do. What kind of supplies do they need. Will they have everything they need. Will they like the classes and the teachers? What happens now? I found one way to stay calm during all the back to school days. Magnesium in this capacity is drinking it in like a tea. A teaspoon in a 1/4 cup warm water. It has raspberry, lemon or orange flavors. It fills up and overflows a bit, so use a big glass, and wait until it stops fizzing. Delicious.   Why Magnesium? Low magnesium results in: Behaviors where you Can’t Sit still Body Rocking Sensitive to Noise Lack of concentration Aggression Grinding Teeth High Stress.   Enjoy your magnesium and be naturally calm.           Share...
